DIY: Stunning coffee stained bookmark

This easy-to-make coffee stained bookmark is perfect for all coffee lovers out there!

Love curling up with a mug of coffee and a good book? Well, this unique homemade bookmark is right up your street! Show your love for coffee and reading with this interesting coffee stained bookmark that lends a warm touch to your book.

  • 1 no. Thick Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil
  • Measuring Scale
  • Pair of Scissors
  • Cup and Saucer (or any flat dish) 
  • Coffee Powder and Water


STEP 1: Material Set-Up

  • Choose light, coloured card-stock sheets of your choice
  • Choose earthy tones to complement the coffee-stain
  • We went with a white card-stock sheet

STEP 2: Cut the Cardstock

  • Save
  • Cut the cardstock sheet of length 15 cm and width 5 cm

STEP 3: Make the Coffee Paste

  • Save
  • This works best with instant coffee powder
  • Mix instant coffee powder with water in a flat saucer
  • Consistency: medium thick paste.
  • It takes just a couple of spoons of water. So, go slow while adding water.

STEP 4: Pattern and stain away

  • Place the bottom end of the cup in the coffee-water paste
  • Lift the cup and place it on the bookmark
  • You should get the impression of a cup-bottom on the card-stock sheet
  • Pattern away various shapes and sizes of coffee stains!
  • Allow bookmark to dry. Should take about 30 mins
  • If the consistency is too thick, then the bookmark gets sticky. It might damage your books. So, watch out
  • Test it before you start using it.
