Harry Potter’s world awaits – meet a young skinny boy in oversized clothes and a tragic (but magic) scar on his forehead as he leaves his ordinary life behind for something hella extraordinary.

What’s more, there are giant snakes, a snake man taped to a (s)quirrell’s head, a tree with a taste for meat, and so.much.more. Sorcery.

Growing up in a house filled incessant ill treatment, Harry realises that there are times when he can do things he can’t explain. Like making a whole glass partition disappear into thin air and releasing the brazillian boa constrictor within, at the zoo! As his birthday comes closer, he starts receiving letters from a mysterious Hogwarts School, and is soon paid a visit by a big friendly half giant who tells him.. “Yer a wizard, Harry!”

So Harry goes to Hogwarts, and meets Ron and Hermoine and Dumbledore and Hagrid and McGonnagall and……well you’ll see. Oh and Harry first learns about his nemesis and the darkest of dark wizards – Voldemort.

Third year at Hogwarts starts off an a pretty dreary note- a murderer has escaped Azkaban (wizard prison) and dementors (spooky things that guard the prison and suck your soul out) are EVERYWHERE trying to find said escapee. Shockingly, escapee “murderer” is in fact Harry’s godfather and Harry finds out just who is responsible for his parents’ death. Anyway, it’s a fun film with an important message: The next time you’re sad remember it’s the dementors’ fault and it’s perfectly alright to eat loads of chocolate.

The students are brimming with excitement – the Triwizard tournament is going to be hosted at Hogwarts this year. Three champions are going to be selected from three different schools – Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. The champions have to complete three tasks to win the cup. Little do they know dark forces are at hand and the last task will lead Harry straight into the hands of death AKA Voldemort.

Apart from that, we have other things to look forward to: ridiculous haircuts, a ball, Hermoine taking our breath away, and the strangest defence against the dark arts teacher. Oh, and lots of Quidditch. You’ll love Quidditch.

Alright brace yourselves you’re going to meet the MOST excruciatingly evil and vile character of the entire series (top credit to Imelda Staunton who did the character justice): Dolores Jane Umbridge. As the ministry of Magic (yes there’s a ministry, keep up) starts to interfere at Hogwarts, things go awry quickly. There has been a mass breakout at Azkaban, and Voldemort is at large again. And he’s after something, a secret weapon, and he’s willing to do anything to get it. Also: Harry starts to have strange visions and learns that his connection with Voldemort is much stronger than he thought.

The death eaters (Voldemort’s followers) are wreaking havoc on the wizarding world AND the muggle world. Dumbledore is adamant to tell Harry everything he knows about Voldemort, things he believes will help Harry defeat Voldemort for good. In the midst of his ‘trips’ with Dumbledore down memory lane, Harry also finds himself to be a reigning Potions champion all of a sudden, thanks to a book previously owned (and scribbled in) by a mysterious Half-blood Prince. Also, brace yourselves, somebody you didn’t think was going to die (ever) is going to….well, you know.

The end is almost here- and one cannot survive while the other lives (don’t worry, you’ll get this sooner or later). We now see Harry as a brave young man trying to save the world from evil’s grasp. I won’t say more because I don’t want to accidentally spoil this final act, but here are some things to look forward to: two favourites finally get together, we see a lot of Helena Bonham Carter (yay!), there’s a big big snappy surprise, and Malfoy cries a lot. That’s all, that’s all I’m going to say.
