If you’re thinking super sharp buttercream edges, signature concrete finish and contemporary buttercream cake, you’re thinking Don’t Tell Charles.
Thao Armstrong’s love for design in all its forms including architecture, interiors, fine art, food and fashion shines through her work of art. She is the creator of the original concrete cake. As they say, work of art is a scream of freedom.
Thao Armstrong is the founder of Don’t Tell Charles Designer Cake Studio & Workshop, based out of Victoria, Australia.
We absolutely love how she constantly has reinvented herself through her journey. A self-taught cake designer with a background in Landscape Architecture, Thao taught herself to bake cupcakes and macarons. In 2013, she opened Don’t Tell Charles Coffee & Desserts, a small specialty coffee & dessert shop in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.
In 2016, Thao established a high end contemporary cake studio. She created a movement for buttercream cakes. In 2017, DTC cake school was born. And now, she is foraying into online courses. Wow, one rockstar that one!
We wish her all the best. Keep moving forward. Keep inspiring us!
These wafer thin chocolate sails are totally edible! The combination of concrete and metal – absolutely stunning!
Smooth sides, sharp edges, watercolour finishes. Such a happy colour palette too. Bliss!
